A blog about literature, reading, and the English language. But mostly book reviews. I was an English major my first time through college and an English teacher for several years, so I clearly like to talk about books and believe my opinions are both accurate and spectacular. I hope you’ll believe that, too. In this blog, I’ll be writing a review for every book I read from here on out. I'll go off on a literary tangents. I’ll also post other, general thoughts relating to lit, and every once in a while write a post explaining something about English, literature, or a book that no one ever bothered to tell you (like why Moby Dick is white - That one's a scorcher!). And, of course, an occasional language themed comic or meme will show up.
Since I
don’t read books that fast, I’ll add reviews for books I’ve read in the
past. Every
review will begin with an Alexandrine* Couplet. Usually, there’ll be pictures.I’ll
try to keep my reviews to fewer than 750 words, and will seldom meet that goal.
So
read on, and enjoy! This blog welcomes
comments, questions, witty rejoinders, links, criticism, and especially grammar
corrections. It fears nothing.

According to Wikipedia: In syllabic verse, such as that
used in French
literature,
an alexandrine is a line of twelve syllables. Most commonly, the line is divided into two equal parts by a caesura between the
sixth and seventh syllables.
--Yeah,
I totally went to school to learn things like that. Money well spent? – You decide.
